Epidemiologist Working at the Intersections of Health, Poverty, and Gender
I am an epidemiologist and a social scientist specializing in interdisciplinary research on a variety of global health and development issues. My areas of focus include adolescent health and empowerment, sexual and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, health equity, education, gender norms and equality, violence, and poverty alleviation.
Currently, I serve as the Vice President of Social and Behavioral Science Research, and I am the Founding Director of the Girl Innovation, Research, and Learning (GIRL) Center at the Population Council.
Previously, I held positions as the Global Director of the Poverty, Gender, and Youth Program at Population Council, Senior Director/Vice President of Research at Innovations for Poverty Action, Head of Global Research at MSI Reproductive Choices, a researcher at Johns Hopkins University, and a research fellow at the National Institutes of Health.
As an advisor on policy and research, I have collaborated with multilateral and bilateral donors, private foundations, universities, United Nations, and government agencies worldwide.
I have served as the Board Chair for Ibis Reproductive Health and an editorial committee member for Studies in Family Planning. I lecture at leading global health universities.
I pride myself on being a results-oriented global health and development leader, non-profit innovator, multidisciplinary research strategist, and resource mobilizer.
